First Responders

E-learning courseware to aid emergency services

Our First Responders e-learning courseware caters for professions concerned with providing life-saving emergency services like Fire Safety, Ambulance Services, and Lifeboat Services, among others. The courses provide robust, comprehensive, and accredited knowledge.

Manual handling for Fire Fighters

Currently our course for Fire Fighters is devoted to Manual Handling and provides all the theoretical knowledge that First Responders need. The Manual Handling course covers the following modules:

  • Legal Implications of Manual Handling
  • Spinal Mechanics and Back Care
  • Dynamic Risk Assessment
  • Principles of Safer Handling
  • Communication and Cooperation

The courses are developed considering the learning behavior of the typical learners. The use of Fire Service Personnel videos and illustrated graphics help easily drive the content using realistic examples. The course provides for a lively learning experience with a variety of animations and interactivities. Furthermore, end-of-module assessments ensure—and keep a record of—the learners’ knowledge retention.

The e-learning component is part of a blended approach that includes practical training sessions handled by instructors. The e-learning course prepares personnel for the practical training session. This saves instructors’ time so they can focus on what they do best—practical training. Having taken the course, instructors may assess Fire Fighters’ Manual handling skills under the umbrella of the A1 Assessor Tool.

TIS is also developing a broader range of courses, including Ambulance Services and Lifeboat Services.
